What is required to participate?

The cohort begins with a week-long summer workshop August 10-14, 2009 at the Teaching Academy on the NMSU Las Cruces campus. The cohort will continue to meet every other week until Thanksgiving and will continue to meet in 2010.

During 2009 cohorts will meet:

Tuesdays 2:00 - 4:00 pm

  • September 8 & 22
  • October 6 & 20
  • November 3 & 17

OR Wednesdays 9:30-11:30 am

  • September 9 & 23
  • October 7 & 21
  • November 4 & 18

These meetings will continue throughout 2010; dates are not finalized.

Application Procedure

Applications for the first cohort are due by April 17, 2009. All faculty members who regularly teach in any of the STEM disciplines are encouraged to apply, including part-time and adjunct faculty. Faculty members teaching beginning undergraduate courses are especially encouraged to participate.

Complete the online application form. Before you begin the application, prepare an answer to the following questions:

  1. Why do you want to be part of this cohort?
  2. How will you apply and share what you learned?
  3. What expectations do you have for the program?

Acceptance

A committee will review your application. You will be contacted regarding your status before May 8, 2009.
